Tehran's police chief said Friday that few arrests were made in opposition protests that erupted a day earlier in the Iranian capital in an opposition attempt to revive street demonstrations over the country's disputed election.
In a matter of weeks, Kelly Golnoush Niknejad's news outlet, Tehran Bureau Web site, became a must-read for many who closely followed the disputed election in Iran. Yet she is not operating from he Iranian capital, but from a laptop in the quaint living room in suburban Boston.
For years, women's defiance in Iran came in carefully planned flashes of hair under their head scarves, brightly painted fingernails and trendy clothing under bulky coats and cloaks.
Among the many Iranians watching the country’s political turmoil from exile is the former empress of Iran. Farah Pahlavi, now 71, was forced into exile by the Iranian revolution of 1979.
In an interview with CFR,org, Karim Sadjadpour , a leading Iranian analyst, says that given the "unprecedented" scale of protests in Iran over the presidential election results, "it's very difficult to see how the status quo ante could prevail no matter what happens."
The cost of the violence, and its emotional and physical toll, is shared by some Iranians on various Web sites.
Iranian authorities have arrested 23 journalists and bloggers since post-election protests began a week ago, according to a media watchdog that says reporters are a "priority target" for Iran's leadership.
In the aftermath of the disputed Iranian election, Internet companies and individuals around the world have stepped in to help Iranians communicate and organize.
An Internet social network is giving one Iranian-American a treasured link to relatives in Tehran — and a window into the protests roiling her father's homeland.
The social network commonly characterized as transmitting narcissism in 140 characters or less is also the go-to source for immediate updates on the events following Iran’s protested presidential election.

iranian demonstration in westwood
Geitner promised a strong dollar during a speech in China causing a burst in laughter from the audience. All eyes on him as a possible 2nd stimulus package might come out.
Charlie Berens asks 'what drives our obsession with Michael Jackson's death?' Where is that same obsession for those who die daily in war?

San Diegan's gathered to demonstrate their opposition against the current regime in Iran and also to remember the 10th Anniversary of the Student Uprising massacre by the hands of the regime thugs on July 9th, 1999.
One other goal was to gather signatures to demonstrate that Ahmadinejad is not recognized as the legitimate President of Iran.
These signatures will later be shown at the Eiffel tower presenting the longest list of opposition in history.
This July 9th demonstration was for the support of the 10th anniversary of the student uprising in Iran and was held downtown San Diego. A worldwide coordinated demonstration to show solidarity with the people of Iran.

Violent protests have broken out in Tehran after incumbent president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of Iran’s disputed presidential election.
In what appeared to be one of the largest NYC gatherings to date, hundreds gathered in Washington Square Park near New York University for an event honoring the 18th of Tir uprising and supporting current protesters in Iran.
By far the most energized of the New York rallies, organizers had coordinated chants, musicians, and had invited poets and politicians to speak, including Ali-Akbar Mousavi Khoeini, a prominent former member of the Iranian parliament. There was also a long green banner bearing the name of rally participants, in coordination with organizers in Toronto.
There seemed to be a sense of renewed hope after what was being considered a historic second round of protests across Iran.
